CEO MONDAY: The Word 'EMPOWER' isn't enough for us

“I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels.”-Maya Angelou

This past week I attended the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and a luncheon with the Freshmen Congressional Class.  The Congressional Hispanic Caucus is a group of congressional leaders that are the voice and leaders in advancing issues that affect the Hispanic community.  As the panelists begin to tell their stories about the challenges that they've encountered, I noticed something. Out of the eight panelists, only two were women. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who noticed. Representative Gloria Negrete-McLeod also noted this. She elegantly asserted that to have more women in higher positions, in the private or public sector, we need to empower other women. By empower she stresses that we should do more than just say ‘I will support your campaign.’ We should follow through, work side by side and give more genuine support for our fellow women.

This concept is at the root of ZOPHIA’s mission. The word empower doesn’t suffice.

ZOPHIA doesn't come together alone. We collaborate and empower our fellow designers, models and agencies who are part of the success of the line. When one succeeds we all succeed.

We aim to be part of each others’ lives. We hope to support each other’s respective endeavors because when one of us wins we all win. So, my fellow ZOPHIA leaders let’s empower, unite and move forward!

HAPPY MONDAY
