How can you still look fabulous around town when you have to cover up every inch of skin? With the decreasing temperatures in the District leaving me shivering in my lacy stockings, I can no longer avoid winter's wrath. Parting with fall, my absolute favorite season, it feels a bit somber. I slowly retire many of my favorite pieces to the back of my closet. However, on the brighter side, Fashionistas, don't feel discouraged. I've noticed that some women tend to ignore the fact that winter can bring a whole new world of wardrobe possibilities!

The most important winter staple: a great coat. Invest in a coat that highlights your style, and don't be afraid to pay a pretty penny. A well-made wool Italian or French coat will last you for years. Remember, you will be wearing your winter coat with just about every outfit for the next four months, so choose one that is a statement to your personal style. Basic black, camel or houndstooth coats are simple yet timeless; choose one with flirty ruffles for an updated take on the classic look.
