DESIGN PROCESS: PART II- SPRING POWERSKIRT LAUNCH

In our last design post, we eluded to the launch of a pencil skirt project which would result in a new sizing guide! As we are obsessed with marrying design and functionality, we coined the initiative THE POWERSKIRT PROJECT. This pencil skirt revolution embraces the multifaceted lifestyle of the fashiontonian and encourages women to lead with confidence through dress. The workplace can often inhibit fashion forward attire and breeds a culture of traditional box-fitting garments. With the ultimate goal of addressing this infectious workplace culture, while simultaneously catering to the needs of the DC woman, ZOPHIA will host a series of PowerSkirt events. Last weekend the revolution began. In collaboration with the gorgeous sister style bloggers of StylesmithsDC, we hosted our first Powerskirt fitting, elegantly catered by our food guru Jacqueline Arce.
On that gorgeously sunny Saturday, we hoped to pamper the DC woman with decadent mouth-watering treats while encouraging feedback on the future of DC fashion. How? Well, through THE POWERSKIRT PROJECT, ZOPHIA aims to gather measurements from women of all sizes to address sizing gaps in clothing. With a vision based on quality and flexibility, ZOPHIA will use this knowledge to sculpt an incomparable pencil skirt sizing guide. As we plan to dress all women in the district, ZOPHIA created three styles: the CEO, the Curator and the Connoisseur. Standing as ZOPHIA's homebase, innovation and a contagiously collaborative ambiance, the Affinity Lab seamlessly buttressed our event. As this project is authentically incremental, StylesmithsDC and ZOPHIA believe it is only the beginning. We hope that we've tackled a small step towards our mission of marrying fashion, food and creative dialogue.
